Robertson is nestled in the scenic surrounds one of Australia’s most glorious regions – the NSW Southern Highlands. It really is the epicenter of, and gateway to, many of NSW’s major tourist attractions.
The Hotel (Positioned accross from Ranelagh Station) is approximately one hour and 45 minutes from the centre of Sydney (traffic dependent).
After a leisurely 60minute drive down the Hume Highway, a slip road takes you along some of the most scenic, green, lush countryside you could imagine, peppered with livestock including cows, pigs and lambs (there’s a reason they filmed the iconic movie Babe in this region).
In about 30minutes, you’ll arrive at our doorstep, from where you can plan all manner of day trip and experience so much of Australia’s finest attractions. Those coming from Canberra will enjoy a scenic two-hour drive, making our destination the perfect weekend getaway for people living in the Capital, or the ideal place to host your company’s conference. With the glorious South Coast only a 30minute drive away, you can marvel at some of the world’s most untouched natural coastlines.
Take in the splendor of Hyams Beach in Jervis Bay (named by the Guinness Book of Records as having the Whitest Sand in the World), or enjoy a picnic, swim and surf at Huskisson Beach. Explore the fishing and recreational areas of Shell Harbour, Nowra and Kiama, or head to Wollongong or Lake Illawarra for the day.
We are also less than 30 minutes drive to the scenic Kangaroo Valley, beautiful Berry and Mollymook, Jamberoo Water and Fun (great for the kids), several of Australia’s top golf courses, and some of the country’s most stunning waterfalls - the famous Fitzroy Falls, Belmore Falls (fantastic for bush walks), and the gorgeous Nellies Glen picnic area and Carrington Falls. The latter are situated in the Burradoo National Park and allow you to swim under the falls, enjoying a leisurely and fun day out, courtesy of Mother Nature. Families will also love the local Glow Worm walk at Bundanoon.
For a more cosmopolitan outing, the hustle and bustle of Australia’s busiest country town, Bowral is just 30minutes away, whilst the City of Wollongong is just 45minutes away. For vinophiles, we are surrounded by some of the Nation’s best wineries. Simply ask at reception should you wish to take a Cellar Door tour.
Remember – at 731 metres above sea level, we are at a higher altitude, and it does get a little chilly from time to time so be sure to pack a wrap, sweater or light coat. The huge plus here is that the air is much cleaner and you are ensured a sounder and more peaceful night sleep.
